A businesswoman, Afusat Taiye, on Wednesday prayed an Ilorin Area Court
to order her estranged husband, Alhaji Baba Olarewaju, to pay the
N600,000 debt he owed her.
The same court had on September 27, 2016, dissolved the marriage between Taiye and Olarewaju, who is the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ilorin West area of Kwara State.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Olarewaju had filed the suit for marriage dissolution based on a claim that he did not love his former wife anymore.
The divorced wife, in her claims, sought an order compelling the plaintiff to liquidate the N600,000 she loaned the PDP chieftain before their separation.
She also sought a refund of school fees she had paid on their only child, Bilkilsu, since 2014.
The claimant wanted the court to also grant her request of N10,000 as monthly allowance for the child from her ex-husband.
She explained that the respondent was not nice to her, saying he starved her s*xually for nine years and did not also provide for the family.
The counsel to the respondent, A. A. Ibrahim, denied that his client owned the claimant "any dime".
The judge adjourned the matter till December 6, for the woman to provide a proof of her claim
